Optional Green Building Features
We can all agree on Green Building practices when they make our homes more comfortable, easier to maintain, and more economical to operate. Further, by conserving our natural resources now, we create a future in which the next generations will still be able to enjoy the nature the world has to offer. In addition to our standard practice of building green, we offer many optional upgrades. Wardcraft can meet all prerequisites for any green building program, including LEED®, which recognizes modular building as inherently green and credits you with points for this practice! Green points can also be earned for the following options among others:

| Wardcraft built the first LEED® for Homes project in the state of Wyoming, certified LEED® Gold. This project consisted of 15 single family homes in Jackson, WY. |
Wardcraft built 6 houses for the city of Telluride, CO, complying with its Green Building Code. | Wardcraft built 8 single family homes and 2 duplexes in Snowmass, CO to the city of Aspen/Pitkin County’s Efficient Building Program. This program incorporates sustainable building methods to conserve natural resources, recycling of building materials/reduction of solid waste and to promote enhanced indoor air quality. |
Green Building Programs Including LEED®
We include many green building features standard, and offer homes that can qualify for third-party certification through regional, national and international green building programs. Wardcraft and your local authorized Wardcraft building professional can comply with the following programs, among others:
• LEED. U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program is an internationally recognized green building certification system, promoting a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality (www.usgbc.org).Wardcraft built the first LEED® for Homes project in Wyoming, achieving a LEED® Gold rating on 15 single family homes in Jackson, WY. LEED® recognizes the benefits of systems-built construction efficiencies, awarding points for this type of construction compared to building on site. www.usgbc.org
• ENERGY STAR®. Learn how a home qualifies for the ENERGY STAR® label at
www.energystar.gov/homes. Your authorized Wardcraft building professional is also required to be an ENERGY STAR® builder partner. Wardcraft authorized builders are responsible for the onsite 3rd party verification that is required for a home to earn the ENERGY STAR® label.
• NAHB. The National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) National Green Building Program Certification offers certification to the ICC 700-2008 National Green Building Standard™ (www.nahbgreen.org).
• Green Building-Nebraska Certified Home. The state of Nebraska offers a Green Building-Nebraska Certified Home, established by the Nebraska Energy Office (www.neo.ne.gov).
• Build It Green. Certification is offered in & around the state of California (www.builditgreen.org).
• Many states have county and city-specific programs, such as Boulder County BuildSmart (www.bouldercounty.org) and city of Boulder GreenPoints (www.bouldercolorado.gov). Ask about your local program.
For your new home to qualify, on-site requirements need to be met by your local authorized Wardcraft building professional, as well as third party inspections and verification by the appropriate individuals (green rater, HERS rater, etc.).
This home in Boulder, Colorado, was built to the strict Boulder Green Points program. The city of Boulder was the first municipality in the country to mandate a residential green code. To see more of this home click here.
