Wardcraft has more selections available than most builders. We study the latest innovations and actually show you what is behind our walls, which is what makes a Wardcraft home so energy efficient. Many of our standards come from the biggest names such as Pella windows, Moen faucets, Kohler whirlpools (and optional sinks), Onyx bathroom sinks, Kichler lights, Lennox HVAC and Kwikset locks and door handles. So be assured what is behind and infront of your walls is quality. We don’t use “builder grade” materials. We believe in building your home right the first time so you won’t need to replace inferior faucets, lighting fixtures etc in the near future.

Every custom Wardcraft home is built to meet energy-efficiency standards for the harshest climate zone in the U.S. Your new home will be built in our climate-controlled work environment with the roof constructed before it is ever exposed to the elements. Highly efficient work areas and enhanced supervision allow framers, electricians, plumbers, roofers and exterior/interior specialty finish workers to have immediate access to their shops and tools, allowing your home to be completed to a higher level of quality than most site-built and all other systems-built homes.

Our systems built method reduces your building time by simultaneous construction at the job site and in our

Built inside our controlled environment and delivered to your job site, your home is assembled on site with precision. The average home is built with one to six sections, depending upon your floorplan and location.

While we are building your new home in our facility, your local authorized Wardcraft building professional is able to coordinate site work, such as excavating and pouring the foundation as well as setting up utilities. This eliminates lengthy building times, weather problems and delays associated with site-built construction. Once your home is on the job site your local authorized Wardcraft building professional will complete the roof, interior and exterior finish work, garage and porch.

Start with one of over 100 plans. Design your own plan with your local Wardcraft building professional or bring us your architect’s floorplan. Wardcraft has extensive experience with complex structural home designs including those with intricate rooflines and site-specific durability features, such as specialized integrated cold roof designs and seismic construction.

One plan can look very different when you add your own touches. This is the Cottonwood, here are some variations. Top photo shows a door beside the garage for easy access, while bottom ones show it on the side. Varying porch styles, gables, exterior finishes and minor modifications are also shown.

High Efficiency, Sealed Combustion HVAC &
Hot Water Heater & Low-Flow Faucets

BENEFIT: As much as half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. High efficiency, sealed combustion HVAC equipment and water heaters with a sealed combustion chamber eliminate carbon monoxide fumes and create a more comfortable home while using less energy. Low-flow faucets conserve water.

Galvanized supply ductwork is standard. The return ductwork shown here is optional.

Standard 90%+ Furnace and 14 SEER A/C Equipment
We use specialized software to design your duct system, ensuring proper sizing to maximize efficiency. This software takes into account the size and layout of the home, room sizes, window-to-wall ratio, insulation, windows and orientation of your home on the building site. Durable galvanized ductwork is optional for the air supply.

Standard Water Heater and Water-Saving Faucets
A high-efficiency 50 gallon water heater is standard and comes with an insulation blanket that helps retain more heat in the tank. Low-flow lavatory faucets are standard (these use 32% less water), with low-flow showerheads available at no additional charge to conserve water.


Electrical & 12 Gauge Wire
BENEFIT: A heavier gauge wire will take more amperage.

Standard 12-Gauge Wire Throughout
With a 200-amp electrical panel. Tamper resistant outlets are also standard. Most builders will use
14 gauge (except in kitchen).

Energy-Efficient Pella® Encompass® Vinyl Windows
BENEFIT: High quality windows with Low-E glazing and improved thermal performance helps retain heat during the winter, retain cool air during the summer and block damaging UV rays.

Standard Pella Encompass Single-Hung Windows
We also offer a full line of Pella vinyl, fiberglass and wood-clad windows for a beautiful wood interior. Wardcraft can also offer Andersen Windows.


Standard Passive Radon Standpipe
The majority of homes we build are located in areas with moderate to high levels of radon. Radon is the No. 2 cause of lung cancer in the U.S. Wardraft installs a passive radon standpipe standard on every home (many areas do not require radon venting by code). Passive radon venting must have on-site portions & connections completed by builder or radon specialist, including the foundation and roof venting requirements. If radon venting is needed, the standpipe is prepped for radon mitigation to be completed on-site. If further venting is required due to high levels of radon, an additional exhaust fan may be installed on-site by a radon mitigation specialist. The EPA recommends that all homes in Zone 1 areas have radon reduction systems.

Potential for Elevated Indoor Radon Levels

U.S. Climate Zones
The climate in which your new home will be built is an important factor in deciding how your new home should be built. The harsher climates that we build in demand a tighter building envelope and higher insulation levels to ensure every dollar spent heating or cooling your home is used as efficiently as possible. It is also important to include windows, doors or skylights that are suited to the home’s climate. No matter where we build your home, EVERY custom Wardcraft home is built to meet energy-efficiency standards for the harshest climate zone.

Although many areas have strict building codes, others have virtually unrestricted building codes. For example, approximately 70% of Kansas has no building code. This means local builders can build very cheaply with subpar building materials and virtually no oversight. Choosing Wardcraft ensures stringent oversight and quality building materials in every state in which we build.

most jurisdictions follow the 2009 code.

Wardcraft STANDARD values N/A: Not Required or Applicable

Windows: The lower the U-factor, the less heat is
transferred, and the more energy-efficient the window.

Insulation: The higher the R-value the more
energy-efficient the structure.

While some areas in the harsher climate zones have adopted the more strict 2009 IECC code, most conform to older codes. The International Code Council publishes codes on a three year basis. The 2009 International codes are the most current edition. Most jurisdictions don’t adopt a code as soon as it is published. A new edition was published in 2012, however most jurisdictions have not adopted it yet. Although it is 2014 (this catalog was printed Oct 2014) most jurisdictions follow the 2009 code.
